Being on the mainland, Volos is easy to get to, and it's only a day-sail away from the islands.

One of the advantages of sailing from Volos is that each boat has its permanent mooring, with electricity and water on the quay, and there is so much to see and do in Volos itself.

Arrival at Volos airport (Nea Achialos). The airport is situated 26km from the town of Volos. We can also provide you with a chauffeur-driven air-conditioned car.

Sail north, along the east coastline of Evvia and you reach the Sporades Islands. The change of scenery from the rocky, wild image of the Cyclades to the green Sporades is remarkable. Four Islands are Populated in this group, namely Skyros, Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos. The views are bewitching and the peaceful surroundings will make you feel rejuvenated

Dense pine forests go all the way down to the sandy beaches, adding a unique emerald tone to the waters. Look out for the Mediterranean monk seal as the Sporades waters are its habitat. Excluding the area of Skiathos and Skopelos Islands, the rest is included in the National Marine Park of N. Sporades as it hosts a large population of the above species, particularly in the sea caves around Alonnisos Island where they reproduce. If you sail in the area look out of the seals and their endless games.

Try the renewed local pies and if you’re into fresh fish and seafood, taste the delicious fish dishes served in any traditional taverna.

The weather in Sporades is calm throughout the year. Summers are sunny and hot, yet local “meltemia” (northerly winds) blow in July and August, moderating heat and swelling the sails. Deep blue sea, small sheltered inlets, and countless beaches - some of them only acceptable from the sea: the Sporades Islands provide setting for a truly memorable holiday!

Please remember that all itineraries are subject to weather conditions and are an indication only. In the Sporades islands the winds usually come from the north and east which makes the southern route better protected. Difficulties may be experienced crossing the north of Alonissos and Skopelos islands and in strong winds (over 6 Beaufort scale) it would be safer – and more comfortable – to return along the south side of the islands. In the event that the weather makes sailing difficult for a number of days at any point it would be necessary to leave out a few of the indicated ports of call. When there is a professional skipper on board he or she will be best able to advise you and he has the final say on all decisions regarding itinerary in any case.
