m/s Astarte

Astarte is a very roomy 25-meter long, 6 meter wide classic schooner that can accommodate up to nine guests in four cabins. Despite her size, she can easily reach the most beautiful coves and small ports of the Greek islands due to a shallow draft. You will be looked after by a professional crew of 4 and it`s possible to offer bespoke sailing cruises according to your requirements.

With her two masts and jib boom, traditionally mounted sails, bronze and wood pulleys, and classic hemp rigging, the Astarte looks absolutely stunning as she sails to windward. She also has a powerful 400 HP engine that can deliver a 10-knot cruising speed consuming just 70 liters of fuel an hour. The engine is a very recent model (2009) with a three metric-ton gas tank; the ship is also fitted with a four metric-ton water reservoir, making it fully autonomous if needed.

The Astarte ketch was commissioned by the famous Greek ship-owner John S. Latsis who liked to entertain his famous guests, including Prince Charles and Princess Diana, President George Bush, the Saudi royal family and actor Marlon Brando. Ranked among the top twelve richest men of all time by Forbes Magazine, John S. Latsis loved the sea and beautiful boats. In the early 1960s, he commissioned a classic yacht in exotic wood from the Psaros shipyard, a signature supplier in Greece. John S. Latsis took possession and named the boat `Alcyone` in 1964, nicknaming her `my beloved beauty` and enjoyed playing host on his boat to the elite of his day.

The Alcyone has since changed hands, enjoying a previous incarnation as `Efi` but has since been renamed the Astarte and is dedicated to sea-lovers as a cruise yacht. The new owners have retained the classic charm of old sailing vessels built from warm, noble wood while providing the most up-to-date equipment and facilities. In this way, shipboard guests can benefit from a maximum of comfort and safety.

The Astarte is naturally equipped with standard safety equipment and ultra-sophisticated navigation systems. A satellite antenna ensures connections to global communication networks, putting Internet and telephone services within reach of all passengers. The AIS (Automatic Identification System) can track the vessel’s location in real-time via the Internet.

The Astarte is the ideal yacht for celebrating special private events, such as birthdays, bachelor Parties, wedding celebrations, honeymoons and more. The boat is also equipped to host corporate events and team-building sessions, as well as Private Parties in dock.

Above decks

In the stern of the boat, you`ll find a cozy corner with sunbathing areas and a hammock. There`s also the option of sunbathing in private from the deckhouse, a comfortable alcove, or on the central roof, both equipped with sunbathing mattresses. From the bows you can find a great spot to watch for dolphins.

There is a large exotic wooden table and chairs for al fresco meals on the stern deck, served on antique tableware, with crystal glasses and silver cutlery. There is a 1930s art deco tea and coffee service, as well as a wine cellar and a cigar collection with 50 cigars.

There are a number of water toys you can use, including: water ski, diving board platform, SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard), troll fishing, snorkelling, sea-bob (underwater scooter). The Astarte has an inflatable speedboat (a rigid-hull Zodiac) which can convey you straight to Greece’s most beautiful deserted beaches. There are also underwater hull lights, so you can enjoy night swimming in a pool of light.

Below decks

The exotic wooden lounge is tastefully decorated with giant nautilus shells, sea-fans and a collection of old nautical items. All passengers can congregate comfortably here, on the huge sofas, while children can sit at the table to play games and share snacks.

From the lounge, you can access the four cabins. Furnished with luxurious comfort, the rooms are air-conditioned and fully sound-proofed. They all have their own shower room and toilet so you have perfect privacy throughout the voyage. An assortment of 100% natural products from the Korres luxury range is available.

Free satellite internet is available.

The Crew

The Astarte’s four-member crew is on call to make your cruise a truly exceptional experience. They will make you feel at home as discretely as possible. You can choose your destination and place your orders even before you arrive on the ship.

The Captain will take care of you, your itinerary requirements, and above all, your and the ship’s safety in all circumstances. Depending on the weather and sea conditions, the Captain will give you a step by step cruise route.

The Chef will tempt your palate with his delicious dishes. As well as meeting any of your culinary requirements, he will take pleasure in serving up freshly-caught fish and lobster as befits a Mediterranean table. The Steward/ess will ensure that everything remains clean and orderly and will help the chef and serve your meals. The sailor/deckhand will ensure everything remains shipshape and will assist the captain in operating the boat.

The crew is on hand to cope with all your special requests, including booking excursions, scuba diving in licensed clubs, massage services, helicopter rental, and supplies of fresh fish and lobsters.

For greater comfort, the entire living area for guests is isolated from the crew area, located at the other end of the yacht.
