Athens to Corinth Delivery Flotilla
2 for 1 Explorer Delivery Flotilla: 17 April - 1 May 2021
This is a great chance to kick off a brand new season, with a fantastic 2 week voyage culminating with the iconic Corinth canal.
The voyage starts in the rejuvenated town of Lavrion before heading to Kea and Kithnos to the east. We then head west across to the Argolic gulf, stopping in Hydra, one of the prettiest of islands. Historic Monemvasia, Yachtie Poros and Epidavros are all on the route, with the Corinth Canal transit as the icing on the cake. This delivery voyage is a chance to explore a fantastic part of Greece, with longer sailing distances and some open water passages to satisfy the sailors, as well as hisory, culture and breathtakingly beautiful harbours and villages to delight everyone.
|Saturday 17 April||LAVRION: Fly into Athens and transfer to the rejuvenated town of Lavrion. Embark your yacht and meet the team. For those that like seafood, dinner is in one of the tavernas near the fish market as a treat.|
|Sunday 18 April||KEA KORISSIA (15 nm) First stop east to the island of Kea in the northern Cyclades. A cool beer in Korissia and some herby wood toasted bread and anchovies for starters...|
|Monday 19 April||KITHNOS, LOUTRA (24 nm) Heading south, the next island destination is Kithnos and the harbour of Loutra (hot springs) and perhaps a dip there in the warm waters that run into the sea. Dinner at one of the delightful seaside tavernas.|
Tuesday 20 April
|KITHNOS (15 nm) You`ll head north to the small islet of Kolones on the west coast for lunch, before heading into Merichas harbour for the evening.|
|Wednesday 21 April||HYDRA (42 nm) An early start for a long leg west to Hydra in the Saronic gulf. Donkeys are the only traffic on this island, where both Leonard Cohen and Edith Piaf had houses, back in the day.|
|Thursday 22 April||PORTO HELI (18 nm) Porto Heli is a fantastic bay, forming a safe natural harbour.|
|Friday 23 April||LEONIDIO / PLAKA (15 nm) on the Peloponnese coast. Pick from the rival fish tavernas in the harbour. Both are the best, apparently!|
|Saturday 24 April||MONEMVASIA (34 nm) Monemvasia, an ancient island fortress, is the only castle in Europe to have been continually habited. Strolling through the cobbled narrow alleys inside the battlements, and browsing the high quality gift shops, is a memorable way to spend the evening.|
|Sunday 25 April||KIPARISSI (20 nm) This village has featured in the book "The most beautiful villages of Greece". You`ll get the chance to see why.|
|Monday 26 April||ERMIONI (28 nm) Watch the sun go down from one of the wonderful beachside tavernas.|
|Tuesday 27 April||POROS (22 nm) Back into the Saronic gulf, in Poros you will find a yachting town boasting lots of charm and character. There`s a lively waterfront & a maze of narrow streets to explore.|
|Wednesday 28 April||EPIDAVROS (22 nm) Make an early start to get to Epidavros by lunchtime. A visit to the anchient amphitheatre is not to be missed.|
|Thursday 29 April||AEGINA (15 nm) Aegina is your destination today. The island is famed for its pistachios. Fish lovers should head to the tiny tavernas tucked inside the fish market.|
|Friday 30 April||CORINTH (28 nm) Your last sail of this great trip takes you through the iconic Corinth Canal all the way to the ancient city of Corinth.|
|Saturday 1 May||Disembark in the morning and transfer back to Athens.|
The climate in the area presents various and contrasting forms due to high mountains close to the coast in conjunction with the bays extend deep into the land. The prevailing winds blow from North to North East with a strength of force 3-4. The average air-temperatures in April – May are 18 – 22 Celsius while the sea-temperature is 18 Celsius and sea state usually calm.
