“We had a wonderful time aboard S/Y Oto 2. We found the boat to be well equipped and well prepared. It was easy to sail and we felt at home very quickly. The owner’s handover was very thorough and we had no issues or further queries during the week. As we received the boat slightly earlier on the Saturday, we set off for Aegina and then visited Poros, Hydra, Spetsai, Ermioni, then back to Poros and finally Kalamaki. We found the route to be perfect for our first sail in the Aegean and enjoyed the differences in the Islands. Along the way other sailors lent a hand when we moored and the locals were very friendly and helpful. The overall experience was excellent.”

"Hello dear Francesca,
This one of a very few times that I find will and energy to write a feedback even not asked for, but I have to admit the case is exceptional by itself. On the behalf of all the friends on board and myself I'd like to thank you personally for excellent courtesy throughout booking process and arrangement of all the logistics (provisions, etc). The staff that met us at the port was really friendly and helpful, the yacht was in a really good condition and a pretty fast one, so we've been really satisfied with our own choice. But most of our admiration goes for a skipper Tomek on professional level effortlessly guiding us throughout cyclades as well on personal level taking care of all the crew and warning us about forecasts (coming meltemi 25+ knots) so we could adjust our trip so that everybody could feel comfortable. He definitely is the skipper that we'd like to have for our next trip.
If you ever need any reference, just let me know - I'd be glad to help with.

Hello Francesca

Thank you for you email. Yes, we had a really good time and all my crew enjoyed the experience despite the very strong winds for most of the two weeks. It certainly made for some good sailing!

The yacht was fine. One or two pieces of equipment were a little bit worn and caused us minor trouble, eg the jib furling cleat which we needed most of the time; the winch handles were a bit worn; and the dinghy had no bungs for the first week so we were not able to use it. But Nikos sorted that out
by sending some bungs to Mykonos. We should have checked that it could be pumped up in Athens, but one does not think of everything and both he and I presumed they were there. He was most helpful whenever I called him. My one suggestion may be to have a written set of instructions for the yacht, esp the electrics and water, because one does not always remember everything that is explained at the initial briefing.

Thank you for arranging everything. If we sail in Greece again I will certainly let you know. If I have some good pictures, I will send them through.

Dear Francesca,

Thanks for all your help and information in respect of our charter of Assante. A solid boat that handled a bit of 50 knot meltemi without too much fuss.

A week was not long enough to explore some of the further afield anchorages and I now realise that you do not need to try and pick the 'smallest boat that will fit the crew' as this leads to hot cramped sleeping in spacious easy to use anchorages and moorings capable of holding far larger yachts. Comfort is the key if it is warmer than you are used too.

I will return in 2010 and we will be looking for a 42-46' yacht capable of sleeping 8. I have checked prices with some competitors and although some of your boats are older your prices are keen and the condition of Assante relative to her age was very good.

I look forward to dealing with you again and feel free to pass on my comments if you feel they will help any of your future clients coming from our colder climes. I will be passing your company details to one of my clients here who is keen to experience some warm weather sailing and I hope they may use your services.

Hi Francesca,

Sorry to be so slow in responding…still digging out from two weeks out of the office! The sailing charter was excellent, and the whole family had a great time. We made it clear early on to Stamatis that we were interested in tipping the balance in favor of more time sailing and less sightseeing on the islands, and he accommodated that desire well. The itinerary worked out well for us…we enjoyed the smaller more remote islands…weren’t as enamored with Mykinos or Ios; which were too party-oriented for our collective tastes. The boat was great…just the right size for us. Tan was a gracious hostess, and the Thai food was delicious and a nice switch from doing taverna food every night. Probably our only food disappointment (clearly no fault of Stamatis and Tan) was that we expected to be able to dine on lots of fresh fish when we were ashore for meals…and found it to be nearly universally unavailable. Stamatis told us that this was because the high winds were keeping the fisherman from getting out, and what little catch was coming in was being reserved in advance of the dinner hour by folks more attuned to the situation. I can’t think of much to offer in the way of suggested improvements.

We have not yet sorted through our pile of photos from the trip, but will endeavor to send a couple along once we do.

Dear Francesca,

We are now back from our holiday and I just wanted to drop you a quick email regarding our sailing trip in Greece.

Everyone in our group had an amazing trip with Nico on Arianna.
The itinerary Nico selected for us was perfect (although we missed out on Delos as we were there on Sunday and it was closed). We didn't feel like we were on a regular charter following all the other boats as Nico took us to some lovely secluded bays and quiter islands. This is exactly what we wanted and why we hired a boat. His local knowledge of the area and passion for sailing only added to the experience.
We never felt rushed or stressed as Nico took care of pretty much everything and seemed to take it in his stride. Nothing was ever too difficult for him. We went fishing (ask Nico about the Barracuda that got away!!), sea urchin hunting and hunting for herbs for our dinner!
It was an absolute pleasure to spend the week week with Nico on the boat. For everyone on our group it will be a trip to remember.

I will be sure to recommend the boat to anyone planning to go sailing in Greece.

Thought I would drop you a line having now been back on dry land - oops I mean very wet windy UK land for a couple of days!!
We absolutely loved it and the kids had a fab time too - we would have no hesitation in recommending the holiday, particularly Rick & Blue Planet to anyone else - it was such a fun week and we were all sad when Saturday came round oh so quickly.

thank you for you interest.
The servis was fine and even an owner of the boat was very helpful - we forgot something on the boat and he came again to open the boat for us.
We had really good time and wind was not so bad. We had possibility to try all the types of weather, so it was good to make an idea what is sailing like. :-)
There was just one thing what our captain mentioned - that the ropes for the sails were not on electricity and we had to use our hand power :-), what we really did not mind. But it should be stressed, that it is so*. The result is that the boat corresponded to the price.

Thanks for your interest. We didn’t mind the weather, we were on holiday. We had a great time, the boat was fine, very clean and serviceable. The only frustration was that despite letting Odyssey know we would arrive at around 2pm a couple of weeks in advance, the boat wasn’t ready until 6:30pm despite all the paper work being done as soon as we arrived. I know that the official time 5pm which would have been fine but we were starting to get a little frustrated when we couldn’t leave until after dark nearly 5 hours after we arrived at the marina.*

* Note from Francesca: as I pointed out to Mark, the official embarkation time is 17:00 although our base reps will always endeavour to board clients as early as they can. However, if a boat needs last minute repairs or replacements or if there are more charters at the base than normal, it may mean that every now and then embarkation time may be delayed, although this is the exception, rather than the rule

Hi Francesca,

We all had an absolutely great time so thank you! Although I had sailed in other parts of Greece this was my first visit to the Sporades so it was good research as well as fun.

The handover at Volos was quick and efficient and I also thought that Antonis was very helpful and friendly so no problems there. We definitely paid the 100 euros cleaning charge so I hope there is no difficulty with that.

The yacht was absolutely fine. Ocean Blue has been well used over the years and shows it but that said we all felt she was well-equipped and in fair condition and with a few very minor exceptions everything worked. It was certainly presented in a clean condition internally – particularly the cabins and heads – and we were pleased about that. The only issue that detracted a little was an apparent freshwater leak somewhere in the port forward cabin that caused the shower sump to slowly fill up and left the whole cabin with a sour, musty smell. The crew using it only mentioned it to me on the Thursday night so I had no time to investigate. I gave Antonis a list of the defects – including that one.

Overall we were very happy with all aspects of the charter so thank you again and please pass this on to the owner.
