2016 Classical Greece Cruise Itinerary

Day 1 – Friday
MARINA ZEA, PIRAEUS - HYDRA
2:00-3:00 pm embarkation in Marina Zea. Arrival at Hydra after Welcome Dinner. Time at leisure to explore Hydra’s picturesque port and enjoy the island’s nightlife. Overnight at port.

Day 5 – Tuesday
RETHYMNON - SANTORINI
Early morning arrival in the popular island of Santorini (anchorage at Fira). Experience the stunning natural scenery of the volcanic caldera. Optional tour to archaeological sites and typical villages with unique views over the Aegean Sea. Overnight at sea to Delos & Mykonos.

Day 2 – Saturday
HYDRA - NAFPLION
Early morning departure and arrival at Nafplion. Optional tour to Mycenae, the powerful walled palace of Agamemnon, the Homeric Achaen king. The old quarter of Nafplion is charming, with narrow streets and characteristic period architecture. Impressive medieval fortifications can be seen in the port and crowning the hills above. Early morning departure to Monemvassia. Overnight at sea to Monemvassia.

Day 6 - Wednesday
SANTORINI – MYKONOS – DELOS
Morning arrival in Delos Island.  Optional tour to the unique archaeological site of Delos, antiquity’s most sacred island. On to the port of Mykonos, with a swim stop on the way. Free afternoon and evening to enjoy the island’s cosmopolitan lifestyle. Overnight in Mykonos.

Day 3 - Sunday
MONEMVASSIA – KYTHIRA
Early morning arrival at Monemvassia, a remarkable medieval fortified town. Explore the uniquely preserved Byzantine and Venetian architecture and experience the beauty of the natural setting. We depart for Kythira Island, a quaint beauty with crystal waters. Early afternoon arrival & time for a swim in the bay. Evening at leisure to visit the picturesque main town of Chora. Overnight at sea to Rethymnon, Crete.

Day 7 – Thursday
MYKONOS - KEA
Early morning departure for Kea Island. Time at leisure to explore Kea’s tiny port, Korrisia after dinner. Depart via Cape Sounion. Overnight at sea.

Day 4 - Monday
KYTHIRA – RETHYMNON, CRETE
Morning arrival at Crete’s famous and lively port of Rethymnon. Today you will have the opportunity to discover the exceptionally preserved palace of King Minoas, by going on an optional tour to the ancient city of Knossos near Heraklion. Overnight at sea to Santorini Island.

Day 8 – Friday
MARINA ZEA, PIRAEUS
Arrival at Marina Zea  and disembarkation after breakfast at 9:00.

Outdoor dining area and sun decks

OUTDOOR DINING AREA AND SUNDECKS
The Outdoor Dining Area where meals are served "al fresco" -weather permitting-, is located on the Sun Deck being the ideal place to admire the passing scenery or enjoy your meal overlooking the stars. The M/Y Callisto features two broad Sun Decks for sunbathing, with loungers, chairs and umbrellas. Located on the Upper Deck and on the Sun Deck, they are the ideal place to bask under the sun and completely unwind while looking at the view.

The lounge/bar and indoor dining room on the Upper deck are connected with each other by the gallery, displaying exquisite art and adding to the overall feeling of elegance and style. The classy dining room accommodates all guests at one single seating.

The indoor lounge area with bar is located on the Upper deck and displays exquisite art  adding to the overall feeling of elegance and style. The spacious lounge and bar area on the Upper Deck is surrounded by large picture windows and opens onto the Sun Deck. and has large windows providing for magnificent views.

Located on the Sundeck, the Library with its wraparound windows is the ideal area to relax with a book while engaging with the passing scenery.

The swimming platform on Callisto’s stern enables you to swim off the ship in sheltered bays, weather permitting.

 

 

Trips to shore

TRIPS TO SHORE
The Callisto crew will be able to ferry guests to shore when at anchor in the ship's tender. Shore excursions are available every day and offer endless possibilities for exploring Greece's antiquities, sites of interest, cultural heritage, beautiful villages and to sample the delicious cuisine.

The category P cabins are located on the Main deck featuring large windows. Category P cabins located at the bow section of the Main deck are equipped with Double beds, while all other Category P cabins at the Main Deck are equipped with Twin beds.They all have marble-appointed en suite bathrooms with showers. Cabins have individually controlled A/C and fitted with TV, CD/DVD player, telephone (for internal use), hairdryers, mini-fridge, central music, public address system and safe boxes

The category A cabins are located on the Main deck featuring large windows. Category A cabins at the bow section of the Main deck are equipped with Double beds, while all other Category A cabins are equipped with Twin beds.They all have marble-appointed en suite bathrooms with showers. Cabins have individually controlled A/C and fitted with TV, CD/DVD player, telephone (for internal use), hairdryers, mini-fridge, central music, public address system and safe boxes.

Note: Itineraries can be changed at the discretion of the cruise operator and of the Vessel's Captain in case of adverse weather conditions - winds of 6/7 beaufort or more depending on the vessel- on port authorities not allowing a vessel to leave port or in case of other extraordinary conditions. Such itinerary changes do not entitle automatically passengers to any refunds but the cruise operator guarantees that passengers are disembarked at the advertised port of disembarkation on time for their flights.

The Motor Yacht Callisto
The elegant Motor Yacht Callisto recently joined the VARIETY CRUISES fleet and is true to her name: Elegant, classic. She was fully refit / rebuilt in 2000 and renovated in 2005 and between March-July 2015. This classy Motor Yacht has performed several Atlantic Ocean crossings, and has also sailed along the most interesting coastal sites of Europe, North and West Africa. The M/Y Callisto is of the “boutique” category of cruiser, and offers the highest standard of accommodation, comfort and safety.

The Cabins on the M/Y Callisto
The Callisto offers 17 finely appointed exterior cabins located on the Lower deck and the Main deck. All cabins are comfortably arranged and beautifully furnished with wooden furniture and light fabrics. They all have marble-appointed en suite bathrooms with showers and are equipped with windows (Main deck cabins) and portholes (Lower deck cabins). All cabins have individually controlled A/C and fitted with TV, CD/DVD player, telephone (for internal use), hairdryers, mini-fridge, central music, public address system and safe boxes. Four Main deck cabins –bow section- offer 1 double bed while all other cabins in the Lower and Main decks are equipped with twin beds.

Safety on the M/Y Callisto

The Callisto is a 170 ft Motor Yacht which complies with the latest SOLAS regulations for International Voyages. Her state of the art twin stabilizers allow for safe and comfortable cruising.

Life on Board the M/Y Callisto
The yacht’s public areas are homely and generous, decorated with rich fabrics, handsome woodwork, gleaming brass, antiques and fine works of art.

During the day, life on board centres around the indoor and outdoor areas including the Upper deck lounge/bar and dining room as well as the cosy Library located on the Sun Deck. The lounge/bar and dining room on the Upper deck are connected by the gallery, displaying exquisite art and adding to the overall feeling of elegance and style. In the evening you can relax in the ship’s lounge, enjoy a drink overlooking the stars or relax with a book in the library with its wraparound windows. The spacious lounge and bar area on the Upper Deck is surrounded by large picture windows and opens onto the Sun Deck. The yacht features two broad Sun Decks for sunbathing and the swimming platform on Callisto’s stern enables you to swim off the ship when in sheltered bays. Service on board is provided by your Captain, the Cruise Coordinator and your experienced Marine and Hotel crew members.
