Charter a yacht in Greece - why?

There are more than 3000 Greek islands and islets, which create up to 20% of the total land mass of Greece and provide more than 15000 kilometres of coastline. This makes Greece an ideal country for chartering a yacht or catamaran. With azure seas and blue skies, what more could the aspiring yachtsman require?

Greece is a country full of surprises. With a mediterranean climate and warm sunshine from April to September, the charter season is long and luxurious. High season runs from July and August, with these months being very busy in places, but there are always quiet, unexplored places to discover, and whereever you go you can be assured of finding a lifestyle very Greek in flavour! Out of season yachties often start as early as March and go on to the end of October, when sea temperatures are still warm enough for swimming. July and August peak in high temperatures (anything between 30 - 45 degrees celcius) with daylight ending at 21:00 at midsummer. This fits in with the Greek lifestyle of eating, drinking and enjoying life after dark and well into the early hours!

Another good reason to charter a yacht in Greece is that there are just so many islands and island groups to choose from. Each island group is unique in character, so it's worth checking out each area, in order to find what you are looking for. The islands will differ in climate, wind and sailing conditions, sailing ability required, tourist numbers, popularity, culture, history, sightseeing, beaches, and much more.

Other mediterranean countries also offer good sailing areas - but ask anyone who has been to other countries besides Greece which they prefer and you will invariably get the same answer - Greece: land of the Gods, and the only place to really charter a yacht!
