yacht charter Greece
bareboat and skippered yacht charter in Greece

Booking Information

1. Fill out the request form. Make sure you tell us your preferred form of contact so that we can get in touch with you. Or if you prefer, send us an email or give us a ring.

2. As soon as your form is processed, we will get back to you with details of availability and price. Once you agree with the results, we will send you a yacht charter confirmation document to sign and fax back to us once you have checked all the details. We will reserve the boat for you for a period of five days. If you think this is not enough time to make payments, please request an extension, although this cannot be guaranteed especially for yachts requested during high season. Failure to pay the deposit within five days means the option will expire and the boat will become re-available for charter.

3. There a number of ways to make payments.

  • Direct bank transfer: Arrange for the amount to be sent from you bank account to ours in Euros making sure that you cover the bank charges at your end. We will need you to fax us a confirmation of this transaction right away. Full details given on confirmation document (page 3)
  • Banker's cheque. Arrange with your bank to send us a cheque made out for the amount payable and send this to our address. Again, we will need you to fax us a confirmation of this right away. Full details given on confirmation document (page 3).
  • Credit card payments (Visa / MasterCard only). We need you to complete the form with your card details (page 3), sign it, and fax it back to us. Both fax numbers are secure but if you prefer to phone or email your card details through, this is okay as long as you sign a note or letter authorising us to charge your card for the amount shown, and revealing only the last five numbers of your card in this way. This is because Greek banks at present still only accept credit card transactions when the card holder is not present, with a signature.

On receipt of the deposit or proof of its payment, we will send you 5 copies of the charter party contract to sign. One of these you will keep for your records, the other four you will return to us. The charter party explains all rights and liabilities. In some cases, we can exchange signed copies by fax and sign the remaining documents upon embarkation.

4. The balance payment (50%) of the charter fee is due one calendar month before the start of the charter and is payable in the same way as before. You will be reminded when payment is due. Failure to pay the balance by this date can mean forfeiture of the charter and all monies already paid.

Cancellations: According to the official charter party contract:

11. In the event of cancellation by the Charterer, for any reason, except as mentioned in Clause 3 (c) (iii), (see below) after signing this Agreement, all advance payments made up to the date of cancellation will be retained by the Owner, and the Owner reserves the right to refund the said deposits only if he succeeds in letting the Yacht to another Charterer for the same period and under the same conditions.

Clause 3 (c) (iii) If the delay of delivery exceeds one fourth (1/4) of the total charter time, to cancel this Agreement and be refunded by the Owner with the total amount paid for this charter. In any of the events mentioned in this Clause, neither party shall be liable to pay to the other any other compensation for any loss or damage resulting from the curtailment or the cancellation of this.

In other words, once you have paid both the deposit and the balance amounts, you are not entitled to any refunds should you cancel, unless we or the yacht owner are able to otherwise charter the yacht under the same conditions. For that reason, we strongly advise taking out a comprehensive travel insurance that will cover you for cancellations and much more before and during your trip. Please let us know if you would like information about travel insurance.

5. The refundable security deposit is payable to the yacht owner or charter agency representative at the time of check in, unless otherwise arranged. This can be paid either in cash and in some cases by credit card or by cheque (please enquire). This is held against minor losses or damages that may occur while you are in charge of the yacht and is returned at the end of the charter minus any payments for the above. Any damages over the amount requested are covered by the yacht's insurance. You are expected to return the yacht in the same condition that you took it, with full fuel and water tanks unless otherwise agreed. For skippered charters the refundable security deposit is asked at the owner's discretion. In most cases, however, when the skipper is other than the owner on board, you will be expected a partial deposit against any losses or breakages on the yacht, although you will not be held responsible for any losses or damages due to skipper's negligence.

6. The end cleaning fee is also payable on check-in (unless otherwise arranged). It is to cover the costs for linen and laundry, a thorough cleaning of the yacht's interior and exterior after each charter - including bilges, filtres and other areas that you would not be expected to clean - whether or not you have cleaned the boat yourselves. IT is not part of the overall yacht fee because it is paid directly to the person or people responsible to the cleaning of the yacht and is not eligible for VAT or commission charges. It can be deducted from the deposit payment at the end of the charter if the yacht is not returned in a clean and sea-worthy condition.
