Odyssey Sailing was originally established in the 1980's as Golden Jason Yachting* by my husband Panos and other professional yacht owners in the area as the first and only charter agency based in Volos, mainland Greece, with direct access to Skiathos and the Sporades islands, Evia, the gulf of Volos and northern Greece. In 2000 we decided it was time for the business to evolve into a charter agency aimed at Internet users. We re-opened as Odyssey Sailing and have been growing ever since.

* In Greek mythology, the ambitious Jason sets off on his journey for the golden fleece from Volos in his ship, the Argo.

Francesca Panagiotis Odyssey Sailing is an official charter agency licensed by EOT - The Greek Ministry of Tourism, and a member of the Hellenic Yacht Brokers Association.

As boat owners ourselves we know what makes a quality yacht and what is needed for a superb holiday. All of our Sporades boats are independently owned by members of the Volos Yacht Owners' Association. We have always aimed to greet all our guests with a personal service that ensures memorable sailing holidays. With a wide network of professional yacht owners, technicians and sailors all over the Greek islands, support is always on hand should anyone need it.

We work directly with yacht owners all over Greece. All yachts are individually cared for and maintained by their owners or experienced and professional technical staff. No large fleet operators offering the minimum in equipment for speedy hand-overs, etc. You will receive personal attention and service. We have taken care to ensure that each yacht meets up to our criteria of quality and good value.

We hope to maintain a personal contact with all of our customers, and we hope to help you find the ideal sailing yacht for your needs. We hope to reach out to people of all nationalities, from all backgrounds, with all levels of sailing experience, and to offer you an unforgettable sailing holiday, that you will long to repeat. We would love to include your thoughts, comments, and photographs on our site in the future. We will try to meet you when you arrive to make sure that you are happy, comfortable and that you have everything you need. After all, the Greeks have a reputation for good hospitality, that we have to live up to.

Reliable Charter Companies - Important Notice:
It has recently come to our attention that at least one website administrator, whose website appears to deal with certain 'issues' connected to sailing and yacht charter in Greece, is promoting themselves as a reliable source of independent information concerning which charter companies to put your faith in. Please be aware that there is no such thing as 'free' advice, and that these website administrators are acting without any authority or licence. In exchange for their 'advice' they are in fact receiving an undeclared commission from a selection of charter brokers, as well as free sailing holidays. Those of us who do not subscribe to this illegal form of persuasion have come under attack as companies not to be trusted and totally fabricated 'stories' have been told to discredit us. Libellous material of this nature has fallen into our hands on more than one occasion and our lawyers are dealing with the issue. We would ask that anyone who comes into receipt of such charter 'advice' about our company, or any other Hellenic Charter company, report it at once to the Hellenic Yacht Broker Association (www.hyba.gr) or forward it to us so that it can be dealt with appropriately.

For anyone who would like a second opinion about reliable companies, you can ask for references from previous clients, read our feedback pages, browse the chat sites, contact the authorised representatives in Greece or charter with us and make up your own mind. For our part, the Greek National Tourist Organisation (www.gnto.gr) recently told us that since we opened our office they have never received a complaint against us!
