Charter crewed sailing yacht Blue Planet, Ionian islands, Corfu, Greece

The yacht is available for private charter - up to six guests on board plus skipper RYA yachtmaster, Rick Driscoll - or individual cabin charter for sailing cruises or learn to sail RYA courses.

Built in 1998 'Blue Planet' has spent time both in the Caribbean, and the Med. 'Blue Planet' was designed by the legendary Bruce Farr designer (amongst many other vessels), of Ellen Macarthur's round the world record winning.catamaran.
Because of her roomy hull design, and pedigree, 'Blue Planet' makes for a very comfortable cruising boat.

Accommodation
Her four Double cabin layout plus Large double saloon berth and two bathrooms with hot showers, means that a group of six people would share sleeping accommodation but after a day out in the sea and sun topped off by a hearty meal from one of the top local restaurants, I have never found that to be a problem.
Typically clients describe a night on board as 'I slept like a baby', or 'I have never slept so well'.

During our trips we like to encourage people to get involved in the sailing process, as many find this experience both rewarding and inspiring, however this is not compulsory.

There is nothing quite like a sail boat under full sail, it takes us back to a simpler time when life moved at a much slower pace. If we are lucky, nature provides us not only with a good breeze but also with spectacular shows such as the beautiful and sedate Giant Turtles, leaping Swordfish, and Dolphins who jump and cavort around us, we see this on a fairly regular basis and it is often a highlight of most peoples trip.

So whether you decide to join us on a Yoga trip or you simply want a yachting holiday with an experienced skipper, Blue Planet will take you on a relaxing and memorable trip.

"I bought Blue Planet in 2005 and have spent the last two years skippering her around the beautiful Ionian islands, and Greek Mainland. This has given me an extensive knowledge of the area, which quiet bays to spend the night, which are the best restaurants, and which are the best ports to visit in order to give you the best possible holiday. During my trips you are more than welcome to help out in the sailing of 'Blue Planet' and hopefully you will come away with some useful knowledge on how to sail a boat".

After our morning classes we will sail on excursions to various locations where you can relax swim and perhaps indulge in some shopping therapy. On rest days we will sail to quite bays and spend time swimming and maybe preparing a bbq or two, some of you may even want to cook a nice meal and show off your culinary skills, you are of course more than welcome!

Sightseeing
The last day (normally Sunday) will take us back to Gouvia Marina on Corfu, it is a day to yourselves away from the boat, so I recommend you take the opportunity to visit the old town with its stunning Venetian architecture, and perhaps look round some of the many restaurants and shops. As an alternative to the old town you may want to hire a car and drive around the island to enjoy its stunning scenery, with its charming mountain villages and tavernas. If this is your choice we can help you with preferential car hire rates straight from the marina.

Sailing Area
We are based in Gouvia Marina on the green and stunning island of Corfu, home to great writers and poets for centuries. Once you have landed at Kerkyra airport you are but a ten minute ride away from the start of your adventure.

We have spent the last two years sailing all around the area. This means that, even in the busier seasons, we can find quite bays and coves as yet not found by charter boats.

The Ionian is an area of outstanding natural beauty and much of it is protected by environmental laws. Dolphins, turtles and even the odd sword fish have been known to join us. Unlike some other areas of the Med, our islands are lush and green, bursting with olive groves, palm and cypress trees.

Legend has it that Odysseus sailed these waters on his journey home from the Trojan wars. Many of the places we visit seem to have changed little since then, the best are still only accessible by sea. Life in the Greek Islands is simple, unhurried, friendly and relaxed. Food and drink play an important part in Greek Culture and as a valued visitor you will be welcomed into the numerous tavernas and restaurants we visit.

Day 1: Embarkation 17:00 Giouva marina. Meet the crew, settle in, have dinner at a nearby taverna.
Day 2: Set off after breakfast and sail four to five hours across to the maninland to Plateria, where we spend the night and enjoy a meal at the fabulous seafood Budos restaurant.
Day 3: Sail for an hour to End Bay for lunch and swimming, then a 3 hour sail to Paxos island and the bay of Lakka, where we spend the night. We normally eat at the exceptional Italian and greek fusion La Bocca restaurant.
Day 4: One and a half hour sail down to Emerald bay on Anti Paxos via the west coast of Paxos with its spectacular cliffs and caves, lunch an swimming in the crystal blue waters of Emerald bay, then a 3 hour sail across to 2 Rock bay - an isolated bay where we will BBQ on board and spend the night beneath the stars.
Day 5: Lunch and swim in a bay then 3 hours sail to the picturesque Gaios on Paxos where we overnight in the pretty harbour and dine in the delightful Taca Taca.
Day 6: Lunch and swim in a bay, then a visit or an overnight in Mourtos a very attractive harbour, or a return visit to Plateria (most people want to re visit Budos restaruant !!)
Day 7: 4 hours sail, we have to head back to Gouvia Marina in order to have the guests back in time for their flights the next day.
If the guests are staying longer we can head down to Preveza and the inland sea to overnight in Vonitses where there lives a huge turtle, the inland sea has many species of sea life, due to its nutrient rich waters. We can also get as far as lefkas via the canal if they have enough time.
