WHY SYROS
Simply, because you start your vacation in a relaxing way, in a picturesque harbor with crystal clear waters, instead of the noisy, pushy, dirty and impersonal atmosphere of the marinas in Athens. You can even swim while checking out and/or have an ouzo with ice on the deck under the sun covers.
Small sailing distance, as you are starting from the center of the Cyclades islands (the Greek word for the circle) all the major island are close by.
Easy circular itineraries, that allow you to see and enjoy more in
less days, escaping the long 40 - 50 miles
boring stretches from Athens to the Cyclades islands and vise - versa,
when as an example, Syros is only 18 miles away
from Mykonos and Athens is 85 miles.
Syros has easy transportation from Athens airport (a couple of direct
flights daily), Ferries to Siros depart from Lavrio
and Rafina (harbors close to the airport), as well as out of Piraeus,
the main harbor of Athens. Hydrofoils and High Speed
boats to Siros are also available out of Piraeus.
