The Sporades, Volos and Evia
Starting points are Skiathos or Volos (mainland port).
The Sporades islands lie in the north Aegean, off the west
coast off Greece , near the peninsula of the south Pelion mountains.
The three main islands in the Group are Skiathos, with its own international
airport, Skopelos - the greenest island in Greece, and Alonissos -
still relatively undiscovered and unspoilt. The area also includes
a marine sanctuary and sea park. Volosis a mainland
city (120,000 population) which stands at the foot of the Pelion mountain
range. The waters of the gulf are sheltered and there are a number
of spectacular stopping places and anchorages, including Milina, Paleo
Trikeri and Ag.Kiriaki. Evia (Eubboia) is the second largest
island after Crete in Greece. It runs parallel to the eastern mainland
coast and since classical and Venetian times has been an important
port between Athens and Constantinople. Orei, on the northern coast
of the island, was an important maritime city in Hellenic times, and
today still has a good harbour, tavernas, shops and cafes.
Recommended
for both the beginners and more confident sailors.

The Cyclades
Starting points are Athens (Kalamaki marina), Lavrion, Syros or Paros.
The Cyclades are rather rocky islands with wonderful bays, sandy beaches
& anchorages. As it often gets very windy, especially in high summer,
you should plan your route carefully and allow for plenty of time to
get back to your starting base.
Recommended for
advanced and confident sailors.

The Dodecanese
Starting points are Rhodes (Mandraki marina), Kos (new
marina) and Samos (Pythagorion port)
In addition to the famous Island of Rhodes there is much more to discover
in the Dodecanese. These islands are usually a little calmer than the
Cyclades and the winds are ideal for real sailing. Here you will meet
a totally different Greece with Venetian influences.
Recommended
for moderately experienced to advanced sailors.
